1951 Eddie Gaedel Rare Signed Index Card PSA DNA NM-MT 8, Game Ticket Stub & Bob Cain Game Worn Fielder's Glove with Single Signed Baseball. Fine assemblage recounts the silliest date in baseball history, as Bill Veeck earned his St. Louis Browns the weirdest walk on record. Bob Cain's carefully inscribed Mint single signed baseball (OAL Brown) tells the story, reading in part, "As you may know, Eddie Gaedel stepped out of a big birthday cake wearing a Brownie uniform #1/8. We all thought it was a big joke until the umpire asked for his contract which the Browns manager produced...I walked him on four pitches high." The highlight of this lot is one of the few known autographs from the shortest man ever to play the game, Gaedel's 10/10 black ink signature appearing on a blank index card with the notation "St. Louis Browns." A rare (unsigned) VG-EX ticket stub for the August 19, 1951 contest is here as well. Finally, we have a game used "Wilson" fielder's glove from Detroit Tigers pitcher Bob Cain, exhibiting solid wear. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA NM-MT 8. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
