    Description

1951 Casey Stengel Presentation Silver Tea Set & Flatware. The torch was passed from Joe DiMaggio to Mickey Mantle in 1951 as one legend was putting the finishing touches on his Hall of Fame while another's was just beginning to take root. Winning has been constant with the New York Yankees. The 1951 season was no different. While the road was rocky at times, when Mantle was sent down for a little seasoning, the Yankees were the last team standing when the '51 season finished.

The Ol' Perfessor pushed all the right buttons and the Yankees made it three championships in a row in '51. That number would swell to five-for-five following 1953. This tea set was presented to Stengel for being the top manager of the 1951 season. A large tray (24.5x14") carries the following inscription: "1951 Manager Of The Year Award Presented To Casey Stengel Of The New York Yankees." Two tea dispensers (11") have the team's players engraved while two cups have the All-Stars' names mentioned. One has the top missing. An "Oneida" maker's mark is notated on each.
