    Description

1950 The Jackie Robinson Story Large Movie Poster. It is unlikely anyone had a ho-hum attitude about Jackie Robinson joining the ranks of Major League Baseball in 1947. He was either a hero or an enemy to other players, to fans and to the entire nation. History certainly proves his rightful place as hero, with the poise and grace he showed while battling insults, death threats and humiliation. Some of this story is shown in the motion picture "The Jackie Robinson Story" from 1950, very early in Robinson's career.

The offered movie poster is an enormous 40x60" and linen-backed for preservation purposes. Unlike traditional one-sheets, two-sheets and three-sheets, the 40x60" versions feature the title in small print in the top left and bottom right margins, and this size is the rarest of all available posters. Called "The Pride of Brooklyn," Robinson himself appeared in the movie, as well as Ruby Dee and Richard Lane. The image is of Robinson in a batting stance with an action sliding shot next to his left shoulder and Branch Rickey over his other shoulder. The bottom margin is marked: "Copyright 1950 by Pathe Industries, Inc." and "The Jackie Robinson Story Z 50/330." Some minor creasing is evident but nearly invisible after being linen mounted. An astounding piece of important American history.
