    Description

1950's Ebbets Field Ticket Boxes Lot of 2. It's been six decades since the Dodgers broke a million Brooklyn hearts, but that dwindling population of fans who recall the sting of abandonment still revile the man who made it happen. The degree of Walter O'Malley's culpability in the relocation of Dem Bums is a matter of debate, and certainly an array of logistical and demographic issues had forced the hand of the Dodgers owner, but the intensity of the grief demanded a scapegoat and O'Malley had been the obvious choice. With the New York Giants answering the same call of the sport's Manifest Destiny in 1957, the year echoes forever in Big Apple baseball infamy.

The two ticket boxes on offer here are just a handful of the few surviving relics which actually were present at Ebbets Field when Robinson, Snider, Campanella, Reese, Newcombe, and Koufax were delighting the Brooklyn faithful. Think of the thousands of tickets that were received, torn and placed, one-by-one, into these hallowed receptacles.

Each metal box measures 10x28x10", with a latched lid containing two metal reinforced ticket slots which lead to two separate interior compartments that occupy two-thirds of the total interior area. Did some tickets find their way into the inaccessible chambers below?

While the boxes remain empty of tickets, they will forever be filled with countless irreplaceable memories of times, games, players, and fans who will dwell forever in the American consciousness.
