1950's Casey Stengel Gillette Razors Massive Die-Cut Advertising Sign. After posting just a single winning season in nine seasons managing Major League ballclubs, Stengel was particularly controversial pick to take the reins of the New York Yankees in 1949. But five seasons and five World Championships later, this larger-than-life Hall of Famer was the toast of the Big Apple. Gillette razors made use of the Old Perfesser's booming popularity with the production of this massive die-cut display, a colorful creation that requires a 40x48" frame to contain it. This piece was constructed as an easel-back display, but we have not examined it outside of the frame to confirm that the back portion remains. As to be expected for a decades-old relic of this size, a degree of wear is evident, with wear at the fold lines and repair to the dialogue bubble at right. A few small and rather insignificant stains must be reported as well, but these faults do little to diminish the impressive aesthetics of this gargantuan rarity.
