1950's Billy Martin Photographs & Scrapbook Collection. He was the Mick's best friend and one of the fiercest competitors the game has ever seen, both as an infielder and a revolving door manager for the New York Yankees. Presented is an impressively comprehensive study of his playing days, in the form of a photograph archive (67 pieces, mainly wire photos) and a pair of scrapbooks featuring an additional 50 photos. The photographs featured in the scrapbook consist of twenty five 4"x 5's, sixteen 4"x6's, and nine 8"x10's--all with paper descriptions attached or printed descriptions on the back bringing the total to 117 photos in this stunning collection. The first scrapbook is mainly newspaper clippings assembled by Martin's junior high school alma mater. The second centers around the 1951 Tour of Japan with some great original photographs and newspaper clippings from Japanese newspapers. An intriguing "insiders' look" at the man whose pinstriped number "1" hangs for eternity at Yankee Stadium's Monument Park.
