    Description

1950's-70's Charles Comiskey II Personal Cuff Links, Watch & Knife. This lot of jewelry features mainly an assortment of cuff links, but also includes a watch, pocket knife and tie clips, all from the personal collection of Charles Comiskey II. The watch is a Hamilton and engraved on the verso is, "To Charles, My Darling, From Hope, 12-25-57." The pocket knife is a small 2.75" closed, made by Colonial with two blades. It is engraved "C.A.C." Two White Sox tie tacks and two sets of old White Sox cuff links with matching tie tack are some of the baseball highlights. One smaller pair of White Sox cuff links are also included, as it a larger set of cuff links with red-striped white socks adorning a black background.

One pair of Sox pins is included from a more modern era. Two large sets of cuff links are in boxes--one a mother-of-pearl set of nine pieces and the other a set of seven gold-hued links with "CAC" emblazoned on the front. Finally, a bag of fifteen cuff links, one pin, one tie clip and one small belt buckle mostly have initials on them, although a few are simple unmarked jewelry pieces. The tie tack is of note as it is marked Tony Piet Pontiac Founded 1938" and is an image of an early White Sox baseball player.

    The Comiskey Collection

It's a name that remains synonymous with Chicago White Sox baseball, and one properly immortalized in Cooperstown bronze. The collection that appears in the lots that follow spans six decades of the team's history, beginning with what may be the earliest ChiSox document in private hands, and continuing on to feature a wide assortment of material from sons J. Louis and Charles A. Comiskey II, who carried on the ownership of the club following their father's passing. Many of the key moments in team history are memorialized, from the team's first World Series appearance in 1906, to the famous World Tour of 1913-14, to the club's eventual sale to another Hall of Fame executive, Bill Veeck, in 1959. All items were stored for decades in the attic of Charles Junior's home before they were acquired by our consignor, and they make their auction debut here.
