1950 Charles "Kid" Nichols Handwritten Signed Letter with Babe Ruth Content. The Hall of Fame came calling late in Charles "Kid" Nichols' life. The Deadball Era pitcher was enshrined four years before he died. This interesting response letter (7.5x9"), on Nichols' personal stationery, was written to Merritt Durkee of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Nichols declines an offer to attend the Hall of Fame ceremony citing his own travels would not permit him. He follows that with this line about Babe Ruth: "I enjoyed watching Babe Ruth he was a great player and a real loss to the game." Some of the writing is shaky as old age had set in the venerable hurler. Mailing marks appear but do not impede the 10/10 signature - dated March 29, 1950. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from SGC Authentic.
