1948 Ty Cobb Handwritten Signed Note. Contrary to popular belief, Ty Cobb enjoyed interacting with fans, answering letters and filling autograph requests whenever possible. In this handwritten note (on an index card), dated May 7, 1948, the Georgia Peach asks for forgiveness for not being able to talk to the addressee and her daughter. His excuse is plausible as Cobb mentions being in the hospital for a period of time. Cobb's 7/10 autograph is authentic while the rest is in an unknown hand, suggesting that the ailing Hall of Famer dictated the note to a family member, friend, or hospital staffer, after which he affixed his signature. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from SGC Authentic.
