1948 Babe Ruth The Saturday Evening Post Advertising Sign. Amazing advertising sign features a celebrated collaboration between of two American cultural icons - Babe Ruth and The Saturday Evening Post. Since its historical roots in the 1720's, The Saturday Evening Post has chronicled the American experience, reflecting the ideals and values that make the United States distinctly unique. The height of the publication's appeal and its greatest influence coincided with the elevation of Babe Ruth to a national phenomenon, from the time he joined the Yankees. The advertising piece on offer here was used by The Post to promote "Babe Ruth's Own Story" through an eight-installment collaboration between Bob Considine and a terminally ill Bambino entitled "My Hits and My Errors." The sign is dated February 14, 1948, just six months before Ruth passed away and pictures him swinging for the fences in his prime. Beautiful! Measures 22x28" and grades EX-MT.
