    Description

1948 Babe Ruth Funeral Souvenirs Display. Heaven's baseball team added a clean-up man on August 16, 1948, when death claimed the greatest slugger ever to set cleats upon a Major League diamond. Six thousand mourners would congregate at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan three days later, and one of them saved the relics presented in this shadow box display. From top to bottom, we find a mourning pinback (1.75" diameter), an admission ticket to the funeral and a card expressing gratitude for "the kind expression of your sympathy." Each piece exhibits minor aging but presents beautifully. Framed dimensions are approximately 22x11".
