1947 William "Cannonball" Jackman Presentational Silver Tray. At six feet five inches in height and 225 pounds, Jackman was a gentle giant of the early Negro Leagues, getting his start with the Boston Colored Giants in 1924. He was born in the final years of the nineteenth century and pitched well into his sixties, reportedly winning over six hundred games with the blazing fastball that inspired his nickname. Often called "the Satchel Paige of New England," Jackman was recognized by his local fans with this impressive sterling silver tray engraved, "Presented to Will Jackman from the Baseball Fans of Taunton, Mass, Aug. 14, 1947." Typical tarnishing is evident but otherwise very minor handling wear represents the totality of condition issues. Dimensions 12x20" inclusive of handles.
