Description
1945 Tony Lazzeri Handwritten Signed Letter with Signed Mailing Envelope. Penned just eighteen months before Lazzeri's untimely passing at age forty-two from injuries suffered in a fall precipitated by an epileptic seizure, this two-page letter is a humorous message to an old drinking buddy, likely a former patron at the San Francisco bar the star second baseman owned (Lazzeri's business card from the bar is included). He writes, in part, "I sure do miss the boys but hell when you get old there's only one thing and that's the rocking chair. A lot of the fellows drop in and see me so we tip a few. Ha ha." He closes with "Your Friend, Tony Lazzeri." The single page (writing on both sides) exhibits original mailing folds and a rough lower edge but no other issues to note. All ink is 9/10 or better. Original mailing envelope is penned in Lazzeri's hand, with a second "T. Lazzeri" autograph in the return address field. The first Lazzeri handwritten letter we've handled. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
