    1944 Duke Snider Signed Montreal Royals Uniform Player's Contract & Correspondence - First Professional Season.
    Duke Snider's journey to the Hall of Fame started in 1944 when he signed with the Montreal Royals for $275 per month. The eventual Brooklyn Dodgers icon played two games for Montreal before joining Newport of the Piedmont League. This contract secured Snider's services with the Royals in 1944. Snider signed the bottom of the second page in 10/10 blue ink. A few pieces of correspondence from the Dodgers are also included: transfer from Montreal to Newport, letter of recommendation from William Schleibaum, letter of recall and Western Union telegram from Branch Rickey to Fort Worth Baseball Club executive John Reves.
