Description

1944 Babe Ruth Used and Signed NBC Radio Script. An intriguing insider's look at wartime radio, this thirteen-page typed script was Ruth's personal model to be read on June 23, 1944 in support of "Colgate Brushless--Shave Cream of Champions." Our favorite bit comes on page eight as the Babe recounts a "miracle" he performed during spring training: "Once down in Tampa, Florida I met a youngster who had infantile paralysis and couldn't walk. He came out to the ball game one day and asked me to hit a home run for him. I did and as I rounded third base that crippled boy stood up on his paralysized [sic] legs! I'll never forget the expression on his Mother's face. She took one look at her son standing up and burst into tears she was so happy." The cover of the script is inscribed and signed in the boldest of black fountain pen ink to an NBC staffer, "To My Pal Jimmy Haufst Jr From Babe Ruth." The pages of the script exhibit some toning and storage wear, but no tearing or any such distraction worthy of note. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
