Description

1943 Mordecai Brown Signed Government Postcard. "That old paw served me pretty well in its time," Brown once said of the injured hand that earned him the "Three Finger" nickname. "It gave me a firmer grip on the ball, so I could spin it over the hump. It gave me a greater dip." Here we find a scarce and marvelously rendered 9/10 example of his autograph, to which he added the simple, charming notation, "A Cub." February 15, 1943 postmark is from Brown's hometown of Terre Haute, Indiana. Brown's name is written on the verso in an unknown hand, while moderate wear is exhibited. Auction LOA from JSA.
