    Description

1942 Babe Ruth Signed Check to His Wife Claire. Four months after the attack at Pearl Harbor drew the United States into the Second World War, the great Bambino wrote this check for one hundred dollars to his wife Claire. All of the black fountain pen writing on the obverse, and the closing "GH Ruth" autograph, is in the Babe's hand, while the endorsing signature on reverse is Claire's. Check exhibits a few vertical fold lines to little distraction. Double matted and framed below a magnificent and razor sharp oversized closeup image of the Caliph of Clout taking batting practice at Yankee Stadium circa 1930. Wearing a rain frock over his home pinstripes, Ruth looks to the heavens as he follows through. A tremendous display piece. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
