Description

1941 Walter Johnson Signed Government Postcard. "The first time I faced him," Ty Cobb once said of Johnson, "I watched him take that easy windup. And then something went past me that made me flinch. The thing just hissed with danger. We couldn't touch him... every one of us knew we'd met the most powerful arm ever turned loose in a ball park." The Big Train's 8+/10 black fountain pen signature resides below a "Best Wishes" greeting upon this rare GPC mailed from Johnson's Germantown, Maryland hometown. One of many government postcards from the collection of young Howard Lyon presented within this auction. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA for protection and unquestioned authenticity.
