Description

1940's Morris "Moe" Berg Hand Drawn Baseball Diamond Sketch, Goudey Card & United States Government Business Card Display. He was one of the most fascinating figures in baseball history despite his limited athletic talents, a Princeton-educated multi-linguist who joined legendary players like Ruth, Gehrig and Foxx on the 1934 Tour of Japan for the purpose of espionage on behalf of the OSS, the precursor to the modern-day Central Intelligence Agency. This display pays tribute to the interesting character. Most noticeable is a hand drawn sketch of a baseball diamond which Berg drew and made several notations regarding the dimensions of the infield, bases and fielders notated - about 14x8.5" showing. "My Explanation to Prof. Scherrer of game of Baseball Zurich 26/X11/44" is written on the corner in red pencil. A small photo of Berg and the professor, EX/MT 1933 Goudey card and personal business card are fitted inside the 17x5x21.5" display.
