Description

1940's Max Carey Major League Baseball Lifetime Silver Pass. The premier base thief of his generation is honored by Major League Baseball with the presentation of this gorgeous pass for a lifetime of free spectatorship. It had been decided at the December 11, 1934 winter meetings that all retired players with ten or more seasons of Major League service would receive a pass such as this, and while any example is highly collectible, those issued to Hall of Famers are particularly coveted.

The shimmering silver relic (2.75x4.25") bears the maker's mark of "Lambert Bros Jewelers NY" on verso, with text on front boldly proclaiming "The National - American Major Leagues of Professional Baseball Present this Lifetime Pass to Max Carey in Appreciation of Long and Meritorious Service." The facsimile signatures of League presidents Harridge and Frick appear at bottom. A small degree of surface wear does little to distract the eye.
