1940's Cookie Lavagetto Game Used Fielder's Glove. UPDATE: This lot includes a letter of provenance from the wife of the curator of the Brooklyn Dodgers museum.

Brooklyn loved its Dodgers more than anything. A city was heartbroken forever when the team moved cross country in 1957. One of the team's favorite players was Harry "Cookie" Lavagetto. The popular infielder's final hit at the Major League level was noteworthy. It broke up a no-hitter in the ninth inning of a World Series game and made a winner out of Dem Bums. This Red Rolfe RR model glove, manufactured from 1938 to '50 and saw action when Lavagetto was an infielder for the Dodgers. According to Joe Phillips' research, other players on the Dodgers, namely Carl Furillo and Al Gionfriddo, used the same style of mitt. A "Rawlings" red label is affixed on the wriststrap which shows heavy wear. Moderate to heavy wear is exhibited on the glove. This was originally on display at a museum dedicated to the Brooklyn Dodgers. LOA from The Glove Collector, Joe Phillips. LOP from wife of the curator of the Brooklyn Dodgers museum.
