1939 Opening of Baseball Hall of Fame Game Full Ticket. Stupendously scarce full ticket would have granted access to Doubleday Field for one lucky fan to witness "The Collins" take on "The Wagners," each team named for the Hall of Fame managers at the helm. Major League Baseball took a one-day hiatus for the event, as each manager hand-picked his team to include future inductees like Dizzy Dean, Arky Vaughan, Mel Ott, Hank Greenberg and Lefty Grove. Even the great Babe Ruth made an honorary appearance at age forty-four. The significance of this piece, dating to the greatest convergence of pre-war baseball talent ever assembled and the birth of professional baseball's most revered institution, cannot be overemphasized. We are also thrilled to report that the ticket, measuring a massive 2.5x7.75", remains in remarkable NRMT condition, with only the tiniest patch of very light paper loss on verso from album removal to be noted. If they ever invent a time machine, you're going to want to have this ticket handy!

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
