Description

1939 New York Yankees World Series Tie Clasp Presented to Red Ruffing. The New York Yankees steamrolled through the competition in 1939 and became the first baseball outfit to register four straight World Series titles. But the year didn't go without some heartache as Lou Gehrig delivered his The Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth speech which left not a dry eye in the stadium. When the season was over, the Yankees sipped championship champagne. Leading the way was Red Ruffing who was the team's ace. This tie clasp was presented to Ruffing for all his stellar mound work that year. "New York Yankees World Champions" surrounds the oval shaped perimeter with a white diamond taking center stage. "Charles Ruffing 14K HBC" is featured on back. A small "1939" baseball charm is also featured. EX/MT with minimal wear. The pin appears in working order. Letter of provenance from the Ruffing family.
