Description

1939 Frank Metha Player Release & Unsigned Contract Lot of 3. After a successful 1939 campaign with the Fort Worth Cats, Frank Metha was approached by the Chicago White Sox. Offered here are his original release from the Cats, a letter asking him to sign and return the release, and a letter from the White Sox with a contract enclosed. Metha fought the contract and eventually signed for more money, but was traded to the Detroit Tigers for the 1940 season, for whom he played all twenty-six of his major league games. Please note: PSA/DNA has ruled "inconclusive" on this lot due to lack of exemplars.
