Description

1938-50 Eddie Collins Signed Letters Lot of 3 from the Hayward Binney Archive. Eddie Collins must have received high marks during penmanship class as a youth because his signature was always carefully crafted. From his days as Vice President of the Red Sox are these three signed letters, two captured on Red Sox stationery. One signed typed letter (dated September 1950) is in response to Howard Binney's attempt to procure World Series tickets should the Red Sox advance to the World Series, which they didn't. A second signed letter urges Collins to take a look at Hank Borowy, a pitcher for Fordham at the time. Collins signed letter basically leaves it up to the scouting department but asks for Borowy's consideration of the Red Sox. Maybe the Hall of Famer should have taken this more seriously as Borowy enjoyed a decade long big league run. A final letter, on Collins' personal stationery and dated 9/23/49, is written in his hand and signed on the backside "Eddie C." We are pleased to report each autograph rates 9.5/10. Another typed letter requests World Series tickets from Branch Rickey, which is unsigned. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
