Description

1937 Babe Ruth Signed Check Display. Just two years after retiring his thunderous Hillerich & Bradsby, the Babe withdrew fifty dollars in cash from his Manhattan bank account using the check artfully displayed here. The check is filled out entirely in Ruth's 10/10 black fountain pen ink, and signed with his standard "GH Ruth" check autograph. It must be noted that the left edge of the check has been clipped off, likely to claim his endorsing signature on verso. A small puncture hole from a filing spike does not cause any concern, and remains clear of any writing. Impressive and expensive matting and framing expands the final dimensions to 26x28". Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
