    Description

1937 All-Star Game American League Player Pendant. The 1937 All-Star Game player pins and pendants were forerunners in ways to the All-Star Game press pins (the inaugural issue of which would debut the following summer in Cincinnati) which have captivated collectors for almost eighty years. On offer here is a beautiful and rare pendant exemplar, one of a very few to ever surface at auction.

The face of this original 10k yellow gold pendant is gorgeous, with "All Star Game American League" appearing in gold letters atop blue enamel which circles a figural baseball announcing "Washington 1937" in raised letters, all of which is topped by a golden eagle clutching a wreath of laurel leaves. Back is stamped "10KT" with Dieges & Clust maker's mark.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
