1936 New York Giants World Series Press Pin from the Casey Stengel Collection. Though Casey had just completed his third season as manager of the hapless Brooklyn Dodgers when this fabled Subway Series took place, his V.I.P. status earned him an all-access invite to the Polo Grounds to see Mel Ott and Travis Jackson face off against Lou Gehrig and a rookie kid named DiMaggio. This gold and enamel masterpiece from the jewelers Dieges and Clust remains in terrific condition, with none of the typical enamel loss you see from pins of this era, and just a few molecules of gold rubbed away at the upper gold border. If not for the lightly bent post on verso, we would not hesitate to grant a grade of EX-MT+. A tough pin made even more desirable by the owner of the lapel where it once was affixed.
