    1936 House of David Broadsides Lot of 2. The Israelite House of David began as a religious community in 1903 by Benjamin Purnell who believed that he and his followers were part of the twelve lost tribes of Israel. The House of David Baseball Team was formed in 1913 and by 1920 they were a full-fledged, competitive barnstorming club with a grueling schedule which allowed them to earn money for their colony and spread their religious message. Two yellow broadsides (11x14") with black type promote "Base Ball, 1936 Season Opener...At House of David, Benton Harbor, Michigan." Game between the Twin City Schlitz and the South Bend O'Brien Varnish Company. EX with wear on edges and minor chipping.
