1936 Babe Ruth Signed Check for World Series Tickets (Yankee Stadium).
This is the second of two checks from the Babe's "Chemical Bank & Trust Company" account making payment for tickets to the 1936 World Series, the first Fall Classic to feature a Ruth-less Yankees team. All writing is in the legendary slugger's 9+/10 blue fountain pen ink, paying a massive "$739.20" to the "New York American League BB Club." While the payee and late September date leave little doubt as to the nature of the purchase, Ruth adds a notation to reverse confirming "For worlds series tickets." Bank stamping and a vertical fold line barely intersect with the Babe's standard "GH Ruth" autograph format for checks, doing no harm to the bold aesthetics. It's unquestionably one of the most desirable Ruth checks to surface in recent memory, worthy of inclusion in the finest of autograph collections. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
