1936 Babe Ruth Signed Check for World Series Tickets (Polo Grounds). It was the first Fall Classic appearance for the New York Yankees since the Babe hung up his pinstripes for good, and here we find proof that Ruth remained faithful to the team he defined. This is the first of two checks making payment for what must have been an extraordinary number of tickets for the 1936 World Series. It's made payable to the "National Exhibition Co.," the corporate entity holding the New York Giants, for "$818.40." The check is filled out and signed entirely in the superstar slugger's hand, as is the notation on reverse reading, "For world series tickets." The Babe's blue ink rates 9/10. We report original bank stamping and a vertical fold line at center, but these do little to affect the considerable strength of the aesthetics. Check format is the most desirable style, with "Babe Ruth" printed at left edge. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
