    Description

Midsummer Classic hardware from the mighty Iron Horse

1935 American League All-Star Team Belt Buckle Presented to Lou Gehrig.
The Junior Circuit made it three in a row in front of 69,812 Cleveland Municipal Stadium fans attending the 1935 All-Star Game, the largest crowd to witness the sport's most celebrated exhibition until 1981. Gehrig would go hitless in the contest, but a Jimmie Foxx home run in the bottom of the first would bring home the Yankee legend and prove the game-winner in the four-to-one result.

Certainly it should go without saying that Gehrig hardware is both exceedingly rare and highly-prized--Heritage was privileged to present his 1934 Sporting News MVP trophy, which commanded $418,250 in February 2016. This impressive blend of form and function features an enameled "1935 All Star Game" logo and shield on the face, set against gold star and laurel iconography. "American League" is engraved to the body of the buckle. Verso bears an elegantly engraved "Lou Gehrig." Maker's mark at lower left verso reads, "10K Top, Dieges & Clust Sterling," indicating a blend of gold and silver design features.

Buckle measures 1.75x2.5" in size, and weighs fifty-four grams (54 g.). Fine condition, with no flaws of distraction. Gehrig would lead the American League in runs (125), walks (132) and on-base percentage (.466) in 1935.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
