Description

1934 George Wright Handwritten Signed Letter. Update: A full LOA from SGC Authentic is included with this lot.

For the aviation Wright brothers, Wilbur is the big challenge. For the pioneering fraternal duo of our national pastime, it's George that bedevils collectors assembling a full run of Hall of Fame autographs, a signature far more difficult to locate than that of his brother Harry. This is the finest example we've ever offered, a single handwritten page thanking his doctor for an eighty-seventh birthday card. Wright's black ink is unimprovably bold, and the 5.5x9" sheet of letterhead from a Palm Beach, Florida hotel exhibits original mailing folds and minor toning in the top margin, but no flaws that distract from the text.

Also here are the original mailing envelope, addressed in Wright's hand but not signed, and a typed and signed letter (with mailing envelope) from Wright's son George Jr., discussing his father's personal memorabilia collection including "...a picture of the Cincinnati Red Stockings of the early days..." These George Jr. documents are likewise in fine condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA for each signature. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
