Description

1934 Frank Frisch Goudey Signed Endorsement Contract. Lou Gehrig was a the perfect pitchman. Any player who can answer the bell day after day and hit like the Iron Horse would have plenty of fans. Kids adored Gehrig and parents appreciated his downright wholesome disposition. Goudey took note of Gehrig's popularity when it produced its cards in 1934. This contract was endorsed by one of baseball's finest batsmen, Frankie Frisch which allowed Goudey to produce his figure on their cards. Frisch's signature is conduced in 8/10 black fountain pen. The body of the context reads as follows: "I, undersigned, irrevocably grant exclusively to the Goudey Gum Company and /or The United States Printing and Lithograph Company permission to use my picture and name on gum and confectionery cards, similar to the cards attached hereto and in a similar manner to that in which Lou Gehrig's name and picture are used on said card. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have this day of 1934, hereunto set my hand and seal." The penning is dated "July 23" and includes a witness signature. Edge chipping appears. Staple marks appear on the upper left corner from where the cards were included. This is only the second signed 1934 Goudey contract we have found on the auction block. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
