Description

1934 Exhibits 4 on 1 Babe Ruth, Lefty Gomez, Lou Gehrig & Bill Dickey Signed Trading Card, PSA/DNA Authentic. The greatest signed trading card of all time? Surely there is a fairly sizeable demographic that would support that contention. While it's true that Hall of Famers practically grew on Bronx trees back in the day, it's still rather remarkable that this four-man Exhibit card would feature nothing but Cooperstown immortals five years before the 1939 ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Even more remarkable is the fact that one intrepid trading card collector made the effort to track each pinstriped legend down to collect their autographs.

Clockwise from upper left we find the immortal Babe Ruth, southpaw ace Lefty Gomez, legendary catcher Bill Dickey and the noble Lou Gehrig, who would claim the American League Triple Crown this season (.363, 49 home runs, 166 RBI's) and yet--scandalously!--finish fifth in MVP voting.

The signatures are each applied in the same blue fountain pen ink, ranging from 5/10 to 8/10, with the Babe and the Iron Horse at the upper end of that spectrum. Handwritten notations and scrapbook removal are apparent on the blank verso, but the front presents without any real distractions, mild corner wear being the only condition issue worthy of mention. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Authentic.
