Ruffing starts the sweep with a complete Game One victory!

1932 New York Yankees World Series Championship Ring Presented to Charles "Red" Ruffing. After three seasons in the unfamiliar role of runner-up to Connie Mack's second great Athletics dynasty, the Yankees retrieved its American League pennant from the Philly flagpole in decisive fashion, clinching a World Series berth exactly two weeks before Game One. With the luxury of setting its Fall Classic pitching rotation to its greatest benefit, the Yanks tapped their red-headed ace for the Game One start, the 1932 American League strikeout king and second only to Lefty Grove in earned run average for the season.

Ruffing would strike out the Cubs side in the top of the first, but three singles and a costly error on Babe Ruth would put the Yankees in a two-run hole before their first plate appearance. But Gehrig's two-run blast in the bottom of the fourth would give the home team a lead they wouldn't surrender before the conclusion of the contest at twelve runs to six.

Three days later the Babe would launch his controversial "Called Shot" at Wrigley Field, and the Yanks would close out the Series the next, dispatching the Chicago Cubs with the utmost efficiency to claim the final World Championship of the Ruth era.

Here we present the most significant example of the ring ever to emerge from that season's victors, the nearly pristine example owned (but, apparently, rarely worn) by 1967 Hall of Fame inductee Red Ruffing. Effectively unchanged from its condition upon presentation, the gorgeous symbol of baseball's highest team achievement is anchored by a large, genuine diamond (original replaced) at center of a silver figural baseball diamond on the face, and encircled by raised text announcing, "New York Yankees World Champions." Identical shanks picture a soaring bald eagle clasping a "New York" banner in its beak and "1932" in its talons. Interior band is stamped "D&C 14K" and engraved, "Charles Ruffing." Size nine (9). Letter of provenance from the Ruffing family.
