1931 Casey Stengel Toledo Mudhens Uniform Player's Contract with Vintage Photograph. "Say, I've got a tip on the market for you fellows," Casey is quoted as telling his 1929 Toledo Mudhens team, "buy Pennsylvania Railroad because by tomorrow night about a dozen of you bums will be riding on it." Though clearly not as prestigious as his job as skipper of the Yankees, the days with the Mudhens are noteworthy as the Hall of Famers' first taste of team leadership. Here we offer his 1931 Uniform Player's Contract for the Double-A squad, which pays Stengel $10,000 for the season. It is signed at the close by two team officials and by "Charles D. Stengel, Mgr." Stengel then writes his home address in Glendale below. Light edge wear is visible on the agreement as are mailing folds. Also included is a period vintage 8x10" showing Stengel calling the shots. Some surface creasing present. The reverse is blank. The contract originally was sold through Stengel's collection. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
