    Description

1930 Tony Lazzeri Signed New York Yankees Payroll Check.

UPDATE: This lot will be accompanied by a full LOA from PSA/DNA for the autograph.

If it wasn't for a couple teammates named Ruth and Gehrig, this is the man who would have worn the 1927 season's home run crowd. Eighteen homers was instead good enough for the bronze medal, and a fine tally for Lazzeri's sophomore year, in the greatest Yankee season of all time. Here we present an official Yankees payroll check issued to "Anthony Lazzeri" during the 1930 season. Lazzeri signed the reverse in 8/10 black ink. Some of the stamp perforations penetrate the signature . Jacob Ruppert and Ed Barrow signed the front, and we are pleased to report their autographs did not suffer a similar fate. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
