    Description

1930's-60's Moe Berg Signed Cut & Collection of Handwritten Notes Lot of 8. One of the most unusual of all baseball biographies is that of Moe Berg. Berg, an average player at best, was known as being quirky yet brilliant. Fluent in at least seven languages, Berg read more than ten newspapers a day. When MLB's tour of Japan in 1934 came up, Berg was surprisingly assigned to the team, but it was on the basis of spying for the CIA rather than his baseball abilities. Berg continued his spy career up into the 1960's.

Up for grabs here is a folder of various notes written by Berg on a variety of topics. One sheet is a Japanese document dated 11-11-34 during the Tour, while most of the other documents, when dated, are from the 1960's. Included is a piece of a letter that includes Berg's signature. Most of the notes are several pages long. Although most items are not signed, this is an excellent collection of personal handwriting from one of the most interesting heroes of pre-WWII baseball. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
