1929 Willis Hudlin Fielder's Glove Worn as He Pitched Babe Ruth's 500th Home Run.
"I'd kinda like to have that one," the Babe said of the ball he clubbed on August 11, 1929 at League Park to cut the ribbon on the newly-founded 500 Home Run Clubhouse. We may never know what happened to that ball, but we're pleased to present a key relic from that historic occasion, the glove that was on the left hand of Cleveland Indians pitcher Willis Hudlin as he served up the milestone dinger. The "Rawlings Bill Doak Glove" exhibits solid wear with a vintage "HUD" penned on the thumb, and a later black sharpie signature with "Cleveland Indians" notation on the pinky. The glove was displayed for years at the Cy Young Museum (later called the Ohio Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum) before the contents were sold at auction in 2002. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (Hudlin autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (Hudlin autograph). Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
