Description

1929 The American National Game of Baseball Aquatint Print (47/150). Rare and early reproduction of the original Currier & Ives print, originally produced in 1866. While later hand colored versions litter the collectibles landscape today, a firm distinction must be drawn between those less significant issues and this very limited edition by R. Varin, whose autograph appears in pencil at lower right. His hand numbering for the limited edition appears at lower left. The work measures approximately 17x23" in size, and is attractively matted and framed to final dimensions of 22x28". A marvelous memento of the 1865 Grand Baseball Match at the Elysian Fields in Hoboken, NJ, considered the sport's first Championship contest. Third party shipping required.
