Description

1929 George Wright Signed Document. One of the cornerstones to any Hall of Fame baseball autograph collection, George Wright was arguably the greatest original baseball player in history. As a shortstop for the first professional team, the Cincinnati Red Stockings, Wright played from 1869 to 1882, winning the Clipper Medal for the best shortstop in 1868. He was one of the earliest inductees into the Hall of Fame in 1937. Besides being an important lot simply for the sake of Wright's signature, the document up for bids is also of note as it refers to the dissolution of Wright & Ditson Victor Co. and is signed by the board of directors. Wright & Ditson was Wright's Boston Sporting Goods store that helped develop many sports, including golf, hockey and tennis.

This 1929 document began dissolving the business, ushering in the end of a long era of Wright serving as a leader in American sports. Document shows folds and a couple light creases, but is in extremely fine condition with all five autographs grading a 9/10 or better. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.
