Description

1928 World Series Press Pin (St. Louis Cardinals). Spacious fields of white enamel are commonly found pink-toned, porous and discolored. Additionally, the convex surface which accommodates the vast white enamel field and the red enamel-filled cardinal lends itself to sensitivity issues when even minimal external force or contact is applied. The result is a pin which is often found with cracking that ranges from hairline to missing pieces in severity. The offered pin possesses only a minimum of discoloration in the white field, as it otherwise remains in an exceptional state of preservation. It rates among the finest of its issue both technically and aesthetically. Further adding to the aesthetics of the offered pin the presence of the fragile gold plating which still remains on most of the obverse, a testament to the care this pin received over the past eighty years. Includes original "St. Louis Button Co. " nut on back.
