1928 Waite Hoyt "Lucky Strike" Trolley Sign. Further capitalizing upon the marketing power of the Golden Age's most dominant baseball franchise, the executives at Lucky Strike chose Tony Lazzeri's New York Yankees teammate for a sign of his own. This specimen dedicated to the Hall of Fame pitcher is tremendously scarce--in fact, this is the first example we've ever encountered. It's not without its problems, however. Considerable restoration is apparent throughout, and the sign has been permanently affixed to a cardboard backing to maintain its structural integrity. So while it surely isn't as pretty as the Lazzeri specimen that precedes this lot, the immense scarcity necessitates that we forgive the piece its shortcomings. Measures 11x21".
