1927 "Ruth vs. Gehrig" Stationery, Handwritten and Signed by Christy Walsh. This lot represents material directly from "The Christy Walsh Estate," which has been in storage since his passing in 1955 and now brought to surface by his descendants. All of this correspondence have been stored in the original files Christy had since 1921 and represents his own personal mementos, business affairs etc. particularly that with Babe Ruth. The first true super agent!

Exceedingly rare original stationery and mailing envelope depicting the "The Battle for Home Runs." Photos are presented of each baseball legend, while billed as "Bustin' Babe & Larrupin' Lou." Presented in solid black ink, Christy Walsh's handwritten note reads, "Dear Kids, Sorry we won't come as far as L.A. this tour but will be home soon anyway. Boy I put one over for Al last night with Babe and Yankees. It went over 100% plus. 35 cameras including movies. See clipping enclosed. This is for Hoover. Love to all - Christy." He then adds a snide artwork, we assume, in regards to Hoover. Mailing folds are exhibited on this 8.5x11" letter, while its 4.25x9.5" envelope is missing its back. Very rare combination! Auction LOA from JSA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
