Description

1927 Lou Gehrig & Tony Lazzeri Signed Banquet Menu Cover. If not for his teammates Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, this man would have led the Majors in home runs during that historic 1927 season with eighteen. We aren't quite sure why the second-year star for the New York Yankees got his own banquet during the last month of the greatest year in Yankees history, but we sure do love this special keepsake from the event. The cover of the menu is signed by Gehrig and Lazzeri, appearing in 8/10 and 7/10 ink respectively. Six other autographs (most inside the cover) include teammates Bob Meusel and Myles Thomas, each virtually perfect.

It appears that the mid-weight cardstock menu split at the spine and lost its contents, and was then taped back together, leaving only the cover. The tape barely affects the Gehrig signature. Cover measures 6.5x4.25". Also here are four loose pages of the seating chart, unsigned. Clearly the primary appeal here is the menu cover and those pinstriped legends who signed it.
