    Description

1927 Babe Ruth Vaudeville Document Archive. Best here are copies of two monologues delivered by the Babe onstage, quite funny but occasionally crossing certain boundaries which no modern public figure would likely discuss. A more tame moment: "I have knocked a few home runs in World Series games but I also know what it is to have a home run knocked off me in a World Series. I was pitching for the Red Sox in 1916 against the Brooklyn Dodgers who won the pennant in the National League that year. Hy Meyers was at the bat and I threw him a groover and Bamm! It went for a home run." Includes: 1927 contract; gate receipt summaries (8), letters & notes regarding a vaudeville tour; Babe Ruth monologues (2) from the vaudeville tour entitled "Hitting Exhibition." Papers exhibit some handling wear but no damage worthy of note.
