1926 St. Louis Cardinals World Championship Ring Presented to Team Owner. One of the most significant St. Louis Cardinals artifacts ever made available to the collecting public, this fourteen karat treasure represents the first World Series victory in franchise history, presented to team owner Sam Breadon. Though Breadon may not be a household name within baseball circles, he ought to be. Together with his young team president Branch Rickey, Breadon pioneered a discipline of developing young talent through a series of minor league teams, initially a means to compete with more wealthy franchises but since adopted by all clubs and known in baseball parlance as "the farm system." Under Breadon, this methodology would pay enormous dividends, with the Cardinals claiming nine pennants and six World Championships, forever altering the future of both the St. Louis Nationals and professional baseball at large.

Though the ring exhibits years of proud wear, the raised text encircling the .25 carat diamond at center is still readily legible: "St. Louis Cardinals, World Champions 1926." Birds, bat and baseball logo adorns each shank. At interior of the size eight band, we find an elegantly engraved "Sam Breadon."

Breadon would end his thirty year ownership of the Redbirds in 1947, but his influence upon the franchise and the game at large is still felt to this day. This remarkable piece, earned through victory over Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and the rest of the 1920's New York Yankees juggernaut, was surely among his most prized possessions from that long reign.
