1924 Casey Stengel United States Passport Used on Baseball World Tour. Europe was still rebuilding after the devastating effects of the First World War when one of the most famous tours in baseball history landed upon its shores. Rather than a hand-picked selection of All-Stars, it was the Chicago White Sox and New York Giants who trotted the globe, with the legendary Casey Stengel a member of the latter. Presented is the passport he carried on the journey, issued for both Stengel and his wife, as was standard practice in these days.

Each Stengel appears in photographic format, with each 2.5" square image signed in 9/10 ink. Casey likewise signs a second time, attesting to the handwritten details regarding his height, weight, eye and hair color and profession ("Professional Base Ball Player"). Several transit stamps appear on the pages that follow. Casey also signs the interior cover of the booklet that houses the passport pages, which are in fact a single large (approximately 12x17") page folded into eighths. The most noteworthy baseball passport we've handled since Lou Gehrig's commanded over a quarter million dollars in our February 2014 auction. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
