Description

1923 Yankee Stadium Original Osborn Engineering Co. Blueprint for Turf Installation. Any veteran Yankees collector has at some time been tempted by the surviving blueprints deriving from the construction of The House that Ruth Built in the early 1920's, but the vast majority relate to specifics of beam structure and the like, with very few picturing the stadium in its entirety. The offered specimen is one of that narrow supply that provides a full view of that hallowed baseball ground, effectively an aerial view that served as a guide for the installation of the field surface.

The result is a feast for the eyes, an image that is instantly recognizable as the original Yankee Stadium even in the absence of the text at lower right that reads, "American League Base Ball Club of New York, Base Ball Park Field Grading Plan." Just below, the blueprint is dated, "3-4-23," just over a month before Ruth would christen the park with its first home run.

The 23x35" blueprint exhibits a mild degree of handling and storage wear, but nothing that serves as any real visual distraction. The full framed dimensions are 30x42".
